Business packages and pricing
One package covers your business return and your personal return.
Every Lay & Company client works with us through a package. Each business package includes your business return, a personal return that matches your tier, and the tax projections listed below. One price covers the entire 2027 package year, which includes your 2026 returns filed in 2027.
What to know first
Sign up by December 31, 2026.
That is the deadline for standard pricing. After that, sign-up fees apply.
One price, two returns.
Your business return and your personal return are both included.
Pay annually or quarterly.
You save when you pay in full.
Bookkeeping is separate.
It is not part of any package and is priced and billed on its own. See Bookkeeping packages and pricing.

*What counts as an item
On your business return: owners beyond the first (spouses count as one), states beyond your home state that your business files in, and rental properties beyond your business activity. Every business package includes your business activity: one division and one self-rental, or three rental properties. Each additional rental is $275 and counts as an item. Each additional division or LLC consolidated into the filing is $500 per year. A consolidated division or LLC is part of one return and does not count as an item. A business that files its own return counts as a separate business toward your package.
On your personal return: rentals (including a primary home that was or is a rental), K-1s, states beyond your home state, and brokerage or crypto statements beyond the first per taxpayer. The first brokerage or crypto statement per taxpayer is included at every tier, and crypto counts the same as a brokerage statement.
A standard personal return covers W-2, retirement, unemployment, and HSA forms, itemized deductions, dependent care and education credits, marketplace health coverage, the sale of a primary home (unless it was or is a rental), your home state, and one brokerage or crypto statement per taxpayer.
Any equity compensation or foreign reporting on your personal return needs the Advanced personal return. Foreign reporting includes FBAR, Form 8938, foreign tax credits, foreign rental properties, and foreign trusts. Foreign taxes paid inside a 1099 brokerage account do not count.
Your home state and the first owner (including entities co-owned by spouses) never count.
Your business return and your personal return each have their own allowance. Items on one do not use up the other.
If your facts change during the year, we move you to the package that fits and prorate your remaining payments.

Your personal return is included
Every business package includes a personal return that matches your tier. Enhanced includes Individual Essential, Comprehensive includes Individual Elevated, and Premier includes Individual Advanced.
If your personal return is more complex than your package includes, we bill the difference. It is added to one final invoice, with any other add-ons, after we prepare your return and before we file. Your regular payments stay at your package price.

If you were in Business Essential
We have retired the Business Essential package so that we can offer business owners tax strategy throughout the year. If you were in Business Essential, you can move up to Enhanced or a higher package based on your situation. If moving up does not make sense for you, we are happy to refer you to another accountant.
